Find your online writing community!

I'm someone that absolutely loves to write and share my work with others! While I tend to write mostly for fun, I also enjoy testing my skills from time to time. After all, what is the point of creating anything if no one ever sees it? So, if you are anything like me, then you will definitely understand where I'm coming from. By sharing my ideas and creations, I have grown in my field over time. Not only have I been able to practice my skills, but because I have been putting my work out there I benefited from the instant feedback I've received on pieces I've written, regardless of whether it was positive or negative. That being said, if you're wondering where to find creative writing communities then there are several online where you can freely share your work.

Free online writing communities

Wattpad

This is considered one of the best writing communities online. While it is not one that I personally use, it is still a great place to display your work. Especially since it does not matter what kind of content that you write, you're free to do as you please. Wattpad is typically free to use, but it also has a premium paid version.

Fanfiction.net

Fanfiction.net is quite literally a site for fanfiction writers. This is the first writing community that I ever joined and it is a personal favorite because it allows writers and readers the opportunity to see their favorite characters from different perspectives. In fact, for hose of you who don't know, the Fifty Shades of Grey series was originally a fanfiction based on the Twilight books. If you aren't into fanfiction this may not be the community for you, but I have found this community to be fun and easy to navigate when looking for specific genres and organizing your favorites. Also this site prevents people from simply copying and pasting your work and claiming it as their own.

Fictionpress

Fictionpress is the sister community to fanfiction.net. It's basically the same site to be honest. The only real difference is that this community is a bit smaller and that fictionpress focuses on the creation of original content.

The great thing about these communities is that there is no pressure to write. You can post on your own time and if you have a streak of creative genius when you're away from home you won't have to worry because these online communities have mobile apps, that allows you to post and read on the go.  However, if you don't like to write, you can simply read the stories and poetry that have been posted, you won't even need to create an account. I definitely recommend browsing the user generated content if you're an avid reader. You never know what gems you'll find online.

These communities are simply a few that I am familiar with but if you have any that you would like to recommend, feel free to leave a comment below. Until next time guys!!
