Broccoli is delicious? A recipe to convince the non believers

In my house, serving healthy meals, basically anything with vegetables can be difficult. I personally love a good serving of veggies, but my family can be quite resistant when it comes to the healthier lifestyle. They would honestly just eat meat and junk food all day if I let them. Needless to say, getting them to eat veggies willingly is a pain. I didn't give up though, I've found new ways to slip veggies into their meals and make them enjoyable. Considering how hard it was to get my family on the Veggie bandwagon, I thought I would share one of my favorite veggie dishes, Broccoli Salad. It's always a hit when it's brought to the dinner table and it's really simple to make.

1 Broccoli
1 Cauliflower
1 white onion (diced)
Feta Cheese(any)
Black Pepper
1 Ziploc (optional)
 Dried Cranberries (optional)

Step 1:

Chop the Broccoli and the cauliflower into fine bits. Note: You only need the head of Broccoli but feel free to use the stem as well if you want. Most people prefer it chopped finely but, I like to leave mine a little chunky because I like the texture. Make sure to dice your onions if you haven't already prepared them.

Chopped Broccoli

Step 2:

Pour the Chopped broccoli, cauliflower, onions, cranberries and feta cheese into the Ziploc bag and give it a good shake to mix them all together. Of course you can simply use a bowl to do this but, I prefer using the Ziploc for storage purposes.

Step 3:

Add salt and pepper to your taste preference. Note: I some times add crushed red peppers for a nice kick. At this point your broccoli salad is basically done and can be stored for up to 5 days in the refrigerator. If you are storing it right away, don't add the mayonnaise)

Step 4:

When ready to use, simply take a portion in a bowl stir in a little mayonnaise and serve. (The amount of mayo added completely depends on your tastes, I've seen people eat this without adding any.)

As I stated before, this is one of my favorite veggie side dishes. It's super tasty and it's a great way to convince people who hate broccoli or veggies to open their mindsets and taste buds. Whether you have your own recipes to share or if you decide to try this one out let me know what you think down below!

Until next time...
