Spice up your coffee with simple tricks.

Relax with coffee

Do you enjoy drinking coffee? I sure do! In fact I personally love it so much that rather than spending tons of money at coffee shops, I went out and bought my own coffee machine. Not that there is anything wrong with going to a coffee shop, I personally just don't always have time to make coffee runs at my local coffee shop. However, sometimes I miss the unique drinks coffee shops offer. If you often make your coffee at home, then you definitely know how I feel, so here are several ways that I found to spice up my coffee.

I know eggnog is a seasonal thing, but when it comes around, I always snatch a few bottles to add a little something extra to my coffee. It makes a great creamer and a flavorful twist, especially if you like eggnog. The great thing about it is that, you don't have to be tied to one type of eggnog. There are so many unique flavors out there, although personally I have a preference for vanilla spice eggnog in my coffee.

Coconut Milk

There are times, when I personally am not feeling dairy products, so I use coconut milk as a substitute. As a bonus, not only does it work as a nice creamer (at least for those of you that don't drink it black), it also adds a nice coconut flavor, which goes well with a pinch of ground nutmeg.

Ponche Crema (Rum & Cream)

So I'm from the islands and a little rum goes a long way. In this case, if you have never tried ponche before, then you should definitely add it to your list. It's a great addition to both coffee and hot chocolate.

Ice cream

As an alternative to hot coffee, sometimes a nice cold cup is better. Try adding a scoop or two of ice cream to your coffee. It's a fun way to treat yourself, on a hot day. I recommend french vanilla ice cream though.

Spiced Rum or Whiskey

Have you ever had spiced rum? It's quite tasty and very popular in the Caribbean, especially the Tortuga brand. This is a great way to spice up a good cup of coffee. Add as much rum as you want and top it off with whipped cream and cinnamon. You can also just add a shot of whiskey.

Overall, these are simply methods I have personally used to give my coffee a special kick. How do you typically add that extra something special to your coffee? Feel free to let me know down in the comments below. Until next time...
