Earthen Urban Turmeric and Honey Facial Soap Review

So this is attempt number 2. My original review vanished into thin air, so I am posting this once more. As mentioned in a prior post I suffer from eczema and as a result I have a very hard time finding skin care products that do not irritate my skin. I don't know about you, but I really don't enjoy unnecessary itching or burning on my face and while I am not actually looking for anything to 'fix' or 'cure' my eczema, I do find it difficult to find a facial soap that I can actually use. One of my college professors kept suggesting that I try using turmeric, so I finally gave in and purchased a turmeric and honey soap from Earthen Urban on Etsy.

Benefits of Turmeric

  • Anti-inflammatory & antioxidant properties that help to heal the skin.
  • Helps to relieve Psoriasis and Eczema Flares.
  • Turmeric also has anti-septic and antibacterial properties. (Basically kills off any harmful bacteria that causes acne to form.)
  • Great for Acne and skin pigmentation treatment.

Even after learning about the benefits of Turmeric I was still a bit of a skeptic, especially after trying so many different products that did not work for me at all. However, I'm actually glad I tried out Earthen Urban's Turmeric and Honey soap. It was such a nice change from my usual disappointment with facial products that I decided to review it here. Keep in mind that while I did mention Eczema, this particular soap is not intended to help with anyone's Eczema. It is simply a facial soap that I found does not irritate my skin.

Pros

  • Helps to decrease facial pimples. I never really had a lot of pimples to be honest, but I did notice that since I have been using this soap, there have been less pimples than usual.
  • It is completely natural and organic, meaning none of those additives that are not necessarily good for your skin.
  • The soap is odorless, which for me is a big bonus! I can't begin to tell you how many times my sinuses have been aggravated by scented products.
  • After trying this product, my skin was left feeling quite soft and smooth, which I personally loved.
  • You know how after using some facial soaps, your skin feels dry and brittle? Well you definitely won't have to worry about that. This brand doesn't dry out your skin at all, most likely it's do to the addition of the honey, which is a natural moisturizer of sorts. (Although after speaking with the creator they did inform me that Turmeric can be seriously drying for those with eczema, and can possibly irritate the skin. I personally haven't experienced it, but everyone is different. If you still intend to use it, make sure to test it first and have some kind of moisturizer handy)
  • This is great for exfoliation due to the blue poppy seeds that are pressed into this soap. It also isn't too harsh on the skin in comparison to some mainstream exfoliation products that I have tried out before.
  • This has nothing to do with the soap itself, but purchasing this product gave me a chance to support a small business rather than those market giants that don't really consider what the consumers really need. Personally, I would much rather support the smaller brands.
  • The delivery was quite fast, I received my order in less than a week, which is super convenient.
  • It's super affordable. One bar of soap was under $5.

Cons

To be honest this product doesn't have many issues. In fact, I would have to say that the only issues I am concerned with involve the poppy seeds.
  • The seeds can be slightly messy after using it, they tend to end up everywhere. Originally, I thought that the seeds were only on the outer layer but I was wrong. They are blended in to the bar itself, but there are 'a lot' of them on the outer layers which naturally strips away with every use. I actually don't have an issue with the amount of seeds. I just thought I would mention that it can be messy.
Earthen Urban's facial soap is on my list of top 10 skin care products and I would definitely purchase again. I'm even considering trying out some other the other products. Overall, I give this product a solid 4.5/5 (Only because there is always room for improvement) . If you are like me and you are always looking for something new to try out then you should definitely check out Earthen Urban on Etsy. Thinking of trying it out yourself, or know of similar products? Feel free to let me know about it in the comment section! Until next time...

Sounds really interesting! I love turmeric but honestly I've never put it on my face! I heard it's great for spot treatment! I might have to give it a try!

A great post on turmeric, really enjoyed learning something new. We use turmeric a lot in Indian cooking and on some ceremonies but never knew it could be used as a skin treatment!

Wow! At under $5, this soap is a deal. I appreciate that it is fragrance-free, as well.
